Facebook dislike button

Facebook dislike button

The Facebook dislike button will affect many peoples online identity as it now allows them to express their opinion more accurately on posts. However it may also make them more self-conscious about what they post as they may not want their post to be disliked. This may alter how people show their self’s online.

Personally I think it is a great idea as it takes away many limitations faced by multiple Facebook users when trying to express what they think of something. For example if your friends dog has died and they post a heart-warming poem followed by a picture of the now deceased dog in the prime of its like you don’t want to like the status but you want them to know you sympathise with them you would hit the dislike; as Mark Zuckerberg described the dislike button as a way to ‘express empathy.’

Although I think the dislike button is a good idea I personally won’t use it as I am more of a twitter guy. But I understand this will be very appealing to a lot of Facebook fanatics. When using Facebook there are many codes people abide by, like saying happy birthday to friends, for example. However I can’t see the dislike button affecting many codes. As well as this with the dislike button being implemented into Facebook I can’t see it changing the Facebook culture massively, however it may change the way people act on Facebook and the way they express there views.
